Reflection report

First of all this course improved my writing skills through writing essays and reports. Also it helped improving my reading skills by writing summaries and mini reports. Although this course concentrates on reading and writing my speaking skills went up by chatting with the teacher and discussing about the assignments and projects. In addition this course also taught me how to write a good report and how to stick to a deadline and giving my work on time. There were many difficulties I faced in the course such as balancing my time between this course and other courses. Because writing and reading are my week points I had to give this course extra attention and time and the result was that I am a better writer than before and also a better reader. It was hard for me at the beginning but after doing many reports and writing many essays it got easier and more enjoyable. There are a lot of new skills I gained from this course which I may use in the future. Such as using the technology in teaching and we used EDMODO website in this course to put our work and to receive our assignments. The website helped to decrease using papers in the class and with EDMODO it was much easier to work and achieve. I hope all courses and teachers would be using this kind of technology in teaching in the future.

final assignment - Fossil fuels

Fossil fuels

Fossil fuels are fuels such as oil, gas and coal which are formed over millions of years after died animals and plants where exposed by pressure and temperature. Fossil fuels have advantage and disadvantage in our environment and human health. We used fossil fuels for a reason therefore it became more important nowadays. The most important use of fossil fuels is that it is providing transportation it is not used only as a fuel; it is the major thing that we extract from it some materials that will build our different type of transportation. The major things are plastic, heat and electricity. Also It have a huge impact in our economy and a big role in national growth. Mohammed Al Hamli, the UAE Minister of Energy said "We all know that the fossil fuels are not going to be able to meet the world economic growth," (Stanton, 2010). Nowadays researches are based on finding alternatives energy to fossil fuels and it can be renewable for example, solar, wind and nuclear energy. Also some of companies that use cans and papers, they start recycling them; therefore they do not waste some of oil products to reproduce.
Renewable energy takes place in a lot of poor oil countries so they can save oil that they imported for important things like transportation. Renewable energies such that nuclear power, solar power and wind power can produce electricity. From solar power we can produce electricity. In the Arabian gulf solar energy is the best renewable energy because of the hot climate and sunny days.  Therefore using renewable energy will help to reduce the global warming emissions, improve environmental quality and health and economic benefits. Human activities add to the atmosphere carbon dioxide which causes rise in temperature, air pollution and climate change.
Nuclear energy is" the use of sustained nuclear fission to generate heat and electricity"(nuclear energy, Wikipedia,2013).  Nuclear energy is an important part in the world wide energy future. It produces energy with less pollution and waste. It also provide environmental safety, clean water, wild life conservation. Nuclear energy plants produce more electricity than any other renewable energy. It take small place compare to solar and wind farms and even it produce more electricity. Nuclear waste cannot be thrown away like normal garbage; it should be stored in special facilities over a hundred of years. UAE is building one of the biggest nuclear plant in the world and started using renewable energy such as solar. In the other hand there are disadvantages of nuclear power is that it relies on elements like Uranium or Plutonium which can be dangerous and it affect our life. In fact the nuclear plant are harder to maintain so, it need to be watched carefully to avoid accidents. It also takes long time to produce energy.

Germany produces its energy using different sources of coal fire stations, nuclear power station, natural gas and renewable resources like wind power, solar energy, biomass energy and hydroelectric energy. The counselor of Germany Government said "As the first big industrialized nation, we can achieve such a transformation toward efficient and renewable energies, with all the opportunities that brings for exports, developing new technologies and jobs" (Angela Markel, 2010). Coal fire stations produce about 41% of electricity in Germany. It has some disadvantages that is related to the climate because it emits gasses like carbon dioxide. Nuclear power stations produces 23% of energy in Germany, since it is very clean energy but it big problem is that it emits radioactive radiation. It needs also to control its waste and to be stored in a good place. "Germany has decided to pursue ambitious greenhouse-gas reductions—while closing down its nuclear plants"(David Talbot, 2012). Germany produces 14% of its electricity using natural gas. Germany faced some difficulties to produce more than 15% of electricity from renewable energy, because it is not effective that much. Nowadays 17% of electricity is produced by renewable energy. They use mostly wind energy, hydroelectric energy, solar and biomass energy. Solar plants produces less energy than other plants because of the climate of Germany ,also its expensive. Biomass energy is important in germany and mostly from wood. It produces a lot of energy than other sources of renewable energy.   Nowadays Germany has to start produce storage technologies. It has 31 pumped storage power plants that store 38 GigaWatt.  "Siemens believes that Germany’s target of generating 35 per cent of its energy from renewables by 2020 is achievable" (Peter Löscher, 2012).

London Array wind farm

London Array wind farm
London Array wind farm is the World's largest offshore wind farm was created by Danish company Dong Energy, the gas and electricity group E.ON UK and Abu Dhabi's future-energy initiative Masdar. More than 80 of the 175 turbine are used nowadays and it produces 630 megawatts into the national grid where it is an adequate amount to power 470,000 homes in London.
The plan started in July 2009 and the foundation of the first turbine was installed into the seabed in March 2011 which has been completed by the end of 2012. It has 147 m above mean sea level and it takes100 square kilometers in the sea. Each of the turbines is connected to the other.
The offshore wind farm has two advantages: more wind and avoid the developers on the onshore projects.
Masdar was gaining an experience of how the turbines was built and used.

mini report 2 - Emarati Jobseekers

Emarati Jobseekers

The private sector in UAE thought that Emarati youth thinks mostly about salary, benefits, and working hours as important criteria when applying a job. A survey done on Emarati youth found that approximately 70 percent of them consider that factors. In the beginning of Jan, 2013 Annual Tawdheef Show took a place in AbuDhabi , that have about 2500 job vacancies in public and private sector companies. UAE government called 2013 as the year of Emaratisation year, which will focus on recruitments of Emaraties.  After a voting session 30 percent of application are looking for skills and opportunity, were 20 percent want to learn new skills,  18 percent emphasis on environment and culture , 10 percent of application considered salaries first and 2 percent consider working hours are important.
